Changing Habbits is an innovative, action based programme that encourages a culture of pro-environmental behaviours. Changing Habbits has been adopted by staff at the Greater London Authority and Canon Europe who are committed to reducing their personal carbon footprint. This programme was delivered in association with the London Sustainable Development Commission’s 2009 London Leaders programme. The vehicle for programme delivery is the www.changinghabbits.org website.
The basis for the engagement is an innovative visual technique called ‘Habbits’. ‘Habbits’ are humanoid forms with body parts distorted relative to the environmental impact of common activities. Each body part is assigned to one impact: feet – transport; hands – home energy; mouth – water; stomach – food; bum – waste and head – electrical goods and the body parts are grown where your impact is higher.
More than 10,000 people have a Habbit. Changing Habbits will be launched in Switzerland at focusTerra at the ETH Zurich in 2015. For more information and to create your Habbit, visit www.changinghabbits.org.
