Giraffe worked with 20 Sainsbury’s (SME) suppliers on resource efficiency to reduce costs, energy (MWh), embodied CO2e emissions, water (m3), waste (t) and packaging in the food sector and its supply chain. The aim was to align Sainsburys suppliers to their 20by20 Sustainability Plan.
The savings identified for the 20 companies were:
- £720,000 which included £36,000 in waste management and prevention;
- 45.365 tonnes of waste;
- 400,000kWh of electricity; and
- 2,800tCO2e
