A waste prevention /Resource Efficiency Reviews maps the resource use and wastage throughout a site, identifying opportunities for improvement. The review aims get to the root cause of waste on site, finding cost-effective ways to reduce waste, cut waste costs, and save money. Where relevant the review also considers opportunities to reduce energy consumption that has a direct impact on the overall environmental impact of the product.
After an initial overview meeting, a site tour normally takes place to understand process and material flows and review current waste handling and prevention activities. Further data analysis is then undertaken, followed by a short feedback session.
The reviews are based on observations made during a site survey, and analysis of packaging and product waste supplied by the company. From the site review and the overview meeting we will offer assistance that will target the following:
- Waste Management;
- Waste Planning;
- Waste Market Development; and
- Waste Strategy.
All of these will reduce:
- costs;
- reduce materials going to landfill;
- reduce material wastage; and
- reduce your company’s carbon footprint.
It will increase:
- the revenue from waste;
- your company’s profits;
- productivity efficiency; and
- awareness of waste issues.
Optimising material inputs and reducing wastage through design has to be the starting point of a resource efficient economy. It is not enough to just recycle waste; action is also needed to prevent the waste from being created in the first place.
We will work with companies to building waste reduction into design, to prevent the waste from arising in the first place.
