CSR benchmarking is a business management tool which provides a systematic approach to managing, measuring and reporting performance. It also provides analysis by comparing a company’s management processes and performance with other companies.
Giraffe’s Prof. Rob Holdway and , Mark Dowling Frey have extensive experience of CSR benchmarking and to date have assessed over 300 annual CSR reports for our clients in the electrical and electronic sector including reporting by Sony, HP, Samsung, Canon and Apple using a system we have developed building upon World Banking approved assessment categories with the addition of a detailed assessment of Product stewardship. This has been further applied by Giraffe to the Pharmaceutical, fashion and defence sectors.
Based upon the results of the benchmarking, Giraffe then gives guidance on ways to improve the CSR and environmental reporting, processes, practices, policy statements by identifying reporting gaps and areas for improvement.
This will help a company develop an evolutionary path of increasingly organized and systematically more mature processes in CSR and environmental reporting and the development of their sustainability strategies.
Competitive benchmarking will also assist the company in identifying the strong and weak areas of their competitors CSR reports, which can be used to their advantage, in the further development of their own CSR reports. This will help the company develop an evolutionary path of increasingly organized and systematically more mature processes in CSR and environmental reporting.
