The products reviewed were a dual flush valve, and water inlet valves (Univalve), sold as part of a dual flush toilet system by a specialist bathroom retailer. These components are standard across their toilet range and have been designed to last at least 200,000 operations.
Giraffe assisted the company in identifying changes to the product to simplify the design and to use recycled polypropylene.
With 750,000 items produced per annum, this will result in a carbon saving of 36.5tCO2e, as well as saving 46.5 tonnes of virgin polymer from being used and an annual saving in excess of £10,000 per annum
Recycled Polypropylene is now in 12 products and research is ongoing.
